Camou welcomed film director Jimz Lee for a film director sharing session focused on the realities behind filmmaking, production and long-term creative development.
Known for his work on projects including You Are My Son, Jimz shared experiences from his career as a director and producer.
Rather than discussing filmmaking only from a technical perspective, the session explored the professional attitudes and personal resilience required to bring a story to the screen.
Malaysian Film Industry Insights from a Working Director
The session gave students direct access to Malaysian film industry insights from someone actively involved in directing and producing.
Jimz discussed his inspirations, professional experiences and the processes involved in transforming an initial story idea into a completed film.
The Malaysian film industry insights also helped students understand that filmmaking involves far more than cameras and actors.
Every production depends on preparation, communication, teamwork and the ability to respond to unexpected challenges.
Creative Media Career Guidance Beyond Technical Skills
A central part of the session involved creative media career guidance.
Students were reminded that professional growth depends on persistence and the willingness to continue learning. Creative careers rarely follow a perfectly predictable path, and setbacks are often part of the development process.
Jimz also highlighted the importance of emotional truth in storytelling. Technical quality can strengthen a film, but audiences connect most deeply when performances, visuals and narratives feel sincere.
This form of creative media career guidance gave students a more balanced understanding of professional filmmaking.
Learning Through Real Industry Stories
The film director sharing session created an opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with the experiences of a working filmmaker.
Hearing about real projects allowed participants to understand the decisions, compromises and responsibilities that exist behind each completed production.
Through sessions such as this film director sharing session, Camou continues to expose students to professional voices that can broaden their understanding of the creative industry and strengthen their preparation for future careers.
