The Camou creative education journey began in 2010 inside a small studio in Johor Bahru.
The space was modest, but its purpose was clear. Camou wanted to create an environment where students could learn creativity through real projects, practical experience and disciplined production.
This early philosophy would eventually shape the development of a recognised creative school in Johor Bahru.
A Small Studio with a Clear Belief
From the beginning, Camou was built around one core belief: creativity should be developed through learning by doing.
Students were not only introduced to creative theories. They were encouraged to experiment, produce work, make mistakes, solve problems and understand the responsibilities involved in completing a project.
The Camou creative education journey was therefore not defined by the size of its original studio. It was defined by the relationships formed between lecturers, students and families who believed in the value of practical creative education.
Building a Creative School in Johor Bahru
As Camou developed into a larger creative school in Johor Bahru, its programmes and learning spaces continued to expand.
However, the original purpose remained important. Students still needed a place where they could explore ideas honestly, receive practical guidance and gain experience through production.
The early studio environment helped establish a culture in which creativity was treated as a discipline rather than only a form of personal expression.
Learning by Doing as an Educational Foundation
The principle of learning by doing continues to influence Camou’s approach today.
Creative students develop through practice. They need opportunities to work with equipment, communicate with teammates, respond to feedback and complete projects that can be presented to others.
The Camou creative education journey has grown from a small studio into a broader college environment, but its foundation remains connected to the same belief established in 2010.
It was not created to be the biggest space at the beginning. It was created to be an honest place where creativity could grow.
